Went to the range today and a reoccurring problem started again today after about 100 rounds. At times it will not feed from the mag or not feed the round all the way. When it first started I figured it was the factory mag I bought some "better" mags. No change. So I bought some Magpuls. Again no change. Started buying better ammo (Remington, Fiochi, and others) No change either. Thought maybe I didn't clean it well enough so I got educated and became very meticulous with my cleaning. No change. Not sure what to do. Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds like the round is not being stripped from the magazine correctly... or the round is not feeding up into the barrel correctly.. Possiablity of your ramps need polished but I am just armchair quarterbacking right now. Take a good look at your ramps and maybe even the bolt to make sure a piece isnt missing or broken off.. If you bought it new see about sending it back to DPMS or you might find your local gun smith. Just some ideas.. I have not seen the issue your talking about per say.

How many rounds through the gun???

My DPMS did this out of the box. Problem started after 2 mags and it would not strip the next round out of the mag. The issue was gas by-pass. The rings in the bolt group were not sealing properly. This issue keeps the bolt from running full cycle. I replaced them and it was OK for a while and issues returned. Replaced the entire bolt group with the one from my M&P and it has ran fine ever since. Met another fellow who had the same experience with his DPMS. Luck to you.

Sounds like it may be short stroking. Check the gas key screws to make sure they are tight and staked properly. If the gas key is loose, it will allow gas to escape. Which will cause it to short stroke. Which means the bolt will no travel far enough to the rear to strip a new round from the mag. That's where I would begin.

I failed to mention that it happens on the first load. It does happen while firing but it also happens when I pull back on the charging handle to load the first shot or when I'm trying to load a miss loaded round

It sounds like the bolt itself is binding during rotation in the carrier since it happens during charging. I'd also take a good look at your locking lugs to make sure they are all there and not broken. Look for binding around the cam pin. I'd also take a look at the gas rings as was suggested above. Maybe one of them has broken or somehow gotten out of its groove thus binding up the bolt in the carrier.

when the round is trying to load it will not feed completely. half in half out of the mag. I use hobbs oil. At first I thought I might not have been using enough oil. I oiled more thoroughly and no change. I never sent in the warranty card so I think that door is closed. I need to find a person close to Brownsburg to check it out for me. Anyone know of such a person?
