Are serrations Half way there?

Ok so I am very frugal, been putting off that semi custom 1911 purchase, for some time. In the interim I have had a few things done to my Ruger Lightweight CMD style 1911. I think I have one of the first generation ones with the front strap serration. As I believe the newer ones no longer have them.

I am a big fan of 25 lpi checkering. Would it be possible to have this done? I have heard that refinish could be an issue due to the aluminum ?

You'd need to measure the thickness of your front strap to see if you have enough thickness to remove the existing serrations and start over.
