I was in Wal-mart and I looked to see if there was any 22 in stock and I noticed that they had some Federal bulk packs in stock. When I looked closer at them I noticed that they were smaller and said 375rds instead of 550. They still had a location for the 550 rd boxes but it was empty. Is federal no longer making the 550rnd boxes? Is it only 375 rds from now on?
When I priced it out the smaller box costs more equaling 18.50 for 550 rnds instead of 16.47 that the bigger boxes are priced at. If the big boxes have been discontinued Im gonna be pissed, I remember paying 8.87 for 550 rnds no more than 2 yrs ago and now theyre almost double the price and they're introducing smaller boxes that cost even more. When will it end.

The 375 are the Automatch variety. Designed to be used in autoloaders. I have a few boxes of each in my cabinet.

    i got robbed

i usually don't shop at gander.but today i went there and they had 1 box of remington bulk pack of 550 rounds.i bought them for 25.00.i thought man that's a lot of money for some 22 ammo but i haven't been able to find the bulk pack anywhere.so i went next store at WAL-MART and they had the 375 rounders for 11.75 i could have gotten 750 rounds for the price i paid for 550.never again will i pay crazy prices for ammo.

Just bought some of the 375 packs. I was at the Seymour Walmart and suprised that had any ammo as they usually dont except for shotgun so i went ahead and bought a couple for $11.47 a piece.

I bought some of the 550rd boxes a few months ago and today I got some 375 round boxes. I got the 550 boxes at the Nobelsville Wal-Mart and the 375 at Plainfield Wal-Mart. I would think that with shortages it makes more sense for Fed to put out the 375 round units as they will fill up faster than the 550 round boxes. With volatile economic factors everyone is reevaluating their business models. I'm sure that as resource supplies come back online (and prices of materials go down.....?) the 550 rounders will resurface. Thats just my layman's guess.

My addiction has been feeding almost exclusively off of 550 round Fed Bulk packs for the past several months, and I am having a hard time keeping as much as I want on hand. That being said, I would be extremely dissapointed if they discontinue the 550 and move to 375. Based on the responses I feel a little reassured that is not the case, but I have been lucky so far to find just enough to keep me going.

Also, aren't the 550 packs $13.47 not $16.xx, or did they raise the price yet again??

I think they're making 375 round value packs in addition to the Auto-match. Its the same red box as the 550 packs, I can't seem to find the 550's anymore, only the 375's. I've never seen Auto-match in a walmart.

I used to buy all of my 375 round boxes of AutoMatch at WalMart. For the money they were excellent and my target gun loved them. They functioned flawlessly in all my rimfires. Unfortunately the 550 round value pack that I got recently has been full of duds and cause jams. Since I can not find the AutoMatch, I will have to switch to CCI MiniMags.

Ive never seen the auto-match at my Wal-mart either. The boxes I saw looked just like the 550 boxes just smaller. Im hoping its just another product to go along with the bigger boxes. If they produce both then its no big deal but if they get rid of the big boxes Ill have to file a few complaints.

I just had the same experience this weekend.

I opened up a new box of 550 Federals & started having problems with FTFire & FTFeed in my Walther P22. Never had any problems until then. I was thinking (fearing?) it was my gun but its reassuring to know it may really be the ammo.
