Can’t answer directly, don’t open links. But if legal officials think I commented a crime, me and my atty. will meet you in court. In front of a judge n jury. JMO

Some years back I bought a really sweet M1 Carbine from my go to gun shop in my home town in Indiana.

I had it for some months and I got contacted by a cop in Illinois that it was a stolen gun.

Come to find out it had been stolen by a guy from somebody he worked for in Illinois, and then sold to my local Indiana go to gun shop.
The guy had been arrested and admitted he stole it and sold it in Indiana.

I met the Illinois cop at the Indiana local city police department.
The Illinois cop told me that technically, I could keep the gun and not turn it over.
(I DID NOT understand the legal theory behind that)

I told him that even if that's true, it's not my gun and I'd never want to own it that way.
As nice as this M1 Carbine is, I'm sure it was a REAL loss to the guy who owned it.

The Illinois cop gave me a receipt when he took possession.

SO IN THE END, I got in no trouble.
My local go to gun shop owner took the hit and gave me back my money.

Wonder if he ever got it back.

    That's a good question.
Back in those days I was still naive as to how police will take an innocent person's gun, and never return it.

As SWEET of an M1 Carbine as this one was (practically museum quality), possibly along the way back to the rightful owner somebody in the chain of custody saw it and said to their self, "Hmmm I like it, I think I'll keep it".

OR, if when the owner finally did get it back, it was all beat up and rusty.

Or cut up, as a recent South Bend PD return was???
