Early this year I picked up an Arsenal SLR107FR. Unfortunately, I have not had the chance to shoot it until today. At the range I discovered that the magazines were extremely tight, so much so that took a lot of effort seat the mag and some mags didn’t even fit.

Has anyone had this issue? Any advice on how to proceed?

What kind of mags were you using? I've used surplus steel, circle 10, tapco and magpul in multiple slr-107s and never had a problem.

Steel surplus and a Bakelite. The steel mags were tighter, but the Bakelite barely went in.

You should be able to see where the problem is.
With some Chinese and Romanian AK's I've had to remove some metal from the back corners of the magwell.

If I'm not mistaken the bakelite mags are just a touch thicker than others and that could be some of your issue... If you don't want your AK anymore though, I'll gladly take it off your hands ;)

At this point, I don't really consider the rifle usable. It seems like my only options are to take a file to the magwell or get into contact with Arsenal. Any other ideas?

Was anyone here got the chance to try the new magpul gen2 ak mags. I can't find any for sale on the Internet and was wondering how much better they were than the older ones. I know they supposedly add steel in them to make them stronger.
