Please forgive my ignorance. With a very young and growing family, NFA items have not been prioritized spending but now that the clock is ticking so to say I want to make sure I have my timelines straight.

    1) Buy NFA item, in this case a suppressor, and keep it in jail...probably a dealer
    2) File NFA trust
    3) Submit necessary NFA forms

If this is wrong please let me know the right sequence

    Thanks

You can do it in that order, but since you'll want to file your NFA forms as fast as possible (and many, if not most, dealers will have you fill out the paperwork while you are paying for your purchase, if you are buying it in state), you'll probably want to get your trust created first. There are several lawyers that come highly recommended by fellow INGOers (Grant Liston, Marc Halata, and Guy Relford are the big 3). They can get them made for you pretty quickly and then you just need to have them signed and notarized.
