Aug '11 1500: Any 458 socom uppers?

Did any dealers have 458socom uppers? I have one and a friend is going with me that wants one.there were some at the last show. Any info would be helpful thanks

How much do they run, do you know? I was reading they have the same power as a 45-70 government.

from the front door as you walk in, look left(north) towards the bathrooms. 3 or 4 isles down there are AR uppers on a display case at an end table. i saw a one 458 upper today.

They may have the same power but the .458 SOCOM is legal for deer hunting here in Indiana and the 45-70 government is not. Not that it matters unless you deer hunt though. lol

Thats strange you can hunt with a somom 458. Its considered a rifle round. I wonder what the shooting range is? 200yards? 300 maybe?

The maximum effective range of the .458 SOCOM is about 100 yards. Yes, you can shoot further but day in, day out, for the everyday hunter, I'll stick to 100 yards.

There are better, less expensive options than the .458 SOCOM for deer hunting.
