Arizona Suspect's Erratic Behavior Raises Questions About Gun Sales

Could this have been prevented seeing the alleged pattern of possible mental illness or not?

'Jared Loughner's behavior was so disturbing, he was forced to withdraw from community college classes last fall, told he could return only with a mental health evaluation showing he "does not present a danger to himself or others."

He tried to enlist in the Army in 2008 but was rejected as unqualified. And those who knew him described him to reporters as a "troubled young man" who frequently had such unusual outbursts that no one even wanted to sit next to him in class.

All I'm going to say about this is that you will never be able to stop the deranged and committed with laws, and you will only trample on the rights of the peaceful and harmless by attempting to do so.

Well. We knew the calls for "gun control" would be coming after this. Paul Helmke will be on multiple cable shows this week.

Could you even imagine what the fall out would be if someone committed a crime of this effect after purchasing a Glock and extended mag from a forum just like this one? I could see lawyers trying to sue anyone they could. The owner of the site for making the site available, the OP, the company that hosts this site. It would be above ugly.:twocents:

Someone might want to use some sanity when big brother is gathering every little piece of data on each and every one of us. How deeply do they dig? How far back do they go? Who determines the cutoff point as to when you are no longer able to purchase or own a firearm? I am almost 60 years old. If you went back to my primary school days and read the teachers notes on me and many of my classmates, you would have thought that we all should have been medicated and visiting a child shrink a couple times a week. Somehow, I think that I have turned out okay since I have been priveleged to work at the same place, in different capacities, for nearly 37 years and have always recieved very good annual appraisals. However, if the person who hired me long ago had access to my primary school records and saw how much time I spent in the waste basker, in the hall or behind the bean bag clown, they might have thought twice about hiring me. Not everything is a good predictor of behavior. Just my two cents again.

After all the b*tching about "gun control" and "crazies with guns", all it would have taken to mitigate this crime, in Arizona of all states, would have been one rally participant drawing his legally owned firearm and shooting the perp DRT. THAT's the lesson people should take from this incident.
