banned internet sights at school

While substitute teaching I attempted to surf the web but INGO, Mission Archery, & a few other hunting sites were all banned for "violence or weapons" but other sites like dicks sporting goods and bass pro shop were allowed when they also have guns/bows/broadheads/knifes/ammo. Just doesn't make sense to me how they decided what is and isn't allowed.

The schools don't actually decide, they Buy approved content lists from service providers who rate websites and they decide what is good and bad. Companies like Novell and others do the decision making.

You could likely set up your own proxy, but it might not be worth the trouble - and could get you in trouble

There's a possibility of that.

I just used vtunnel as an example...There are plenty of other proxies out there that are less popular and might not be blocked.

Very good idea, and smart! You can also use team viewer if the computer at the school will let you install it.

It is crazy I am 23 and just a few years removed from school and my high school blocked most of the big news channel website cnn, fox news, ect saying some of the stores where to graphic. Well the real world is graphic. You are not protecting anyone or anything by stopping those websites. Porn and things I understand
