    im looking for somewhere to go camping where there arent necasarily predetermined camps such as the indiana dunes campgrounds, somewhere if possible you just hike for awhile and decide this looks like a good place to setup camp and forage for fallen wood and dead trees to harvest for firewood. Are they even any places like this around here? thanks for any help!

    I would also recommend the Charles Deam Wilderness area of Hoosier National Forest. You will definitely see the sites/areas that are routinely used to set up camp, but you can basically set up anywhere within the Wilderness area. There are also some nice areas along the North Country Trail in the lower peninsula of Michigan.
