and I are proud to be hosting Blue Cell Protective Services for their 1-day Less-Lethal Defensive Options Course on Saturday, August 13th, 2011.

The Less Lethal Defensive Options Course (LLDOC) is BCPS' newest curriculum designed for the responsible citizen who desires to add to their self-defense tool kit. The LLDOC is designed to give students the skills to deal with an assaultive encounter through the use of unarmed and less-lethal options all the way to the conclusion of the incident.

This course is for any individual- including those who choose to carry lethal defensive options (firearms) as the course deals with the intermediate level of force an thusly fills a gap in the armed citizens "all-around" defensive bubble.

This course will cover: (but not limited to)

    • The Whole Person Concept
    • Situational Awareness
    • Mindset and Scene Observation
    • Constitutional Use of Force
    • Prevention
    • Defense on foot
    • Defense on the ground
    • Basic Edged Weapon Defense
    • Types of Less Lethal tools including both OC (pepper spray) and EMD weapons (Tasers/stunguns)
    • Less-lethal tool employment and demonstration
    • Less-lethal drills
    • OC Decontamination
    • Role Playing scenarios
    • LIVE OC TEST ON CADRE MEMBER
    • Types of emergency aid tools available to civilians
    • Proper use and application of emergency aid
    • Dealing with responding law enforcement
This course DOES NOT require any martial arts background and will be taught "by the numbers." The curriculum is based on basic training given to law enforcement officers to survive a deadly attack.

Upon completion, all students will receive a training Certificate, Letter of Training describing all information taught and a personal sized Pepper Spray unit.

This class will be taught by Erik Utrecht, MDFI Staff Instructor and Owner of Blue Cell Protective Services.

Note taking is allowed and welcomed.

This course is physically demanding, but you will only be asked to do what you can.

NO LIVE WEAPONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS CLASS! IF YOU HAVE A INERT TRAINING FIREARM (Blue/Red gun) and holster, you may wear it during the class. (must be inspected by BCPS cadre prior to class)

The class will be outdoors on soft ground (grass). Please wear appropriate athletic clothing for the purpose.

Restrooms are available on site, please bring your own water to the class.

Men, please clip your fingernails! Ladies, if you have nails I would ask you to bring "baseball style" gloves (thin, full fingered)- thanks!

Registration will begin at 9:30am and class will start promptly at 10:00am due to the large amount of material covered.

    $99.00 per person

I'm interested. Wait. This isn't a woman's class is it? Jennifer, KR, etc. ?

    LOL

While not a female-only class, I think this kind of material is excellent for anyone that spends time unarmed (whether by choice or environment).

Looking at past training classes and knowing Trek, I'd say that his classes are very female-friendly.

It's states in the OP that "the class is physically demanding, but you'll only be asked to do what you can". So how physically demanding...can us old ladies handle this? Will there be actual physical action vs a demonstration on how to do. How good a shape do you have to be in?

    Rayne,

The part of the course that is physically demanding is the portion dealing with building a good foundation for unarmed defense. Students are paired up and we cover techniques taught "by the numbers" by demonstrating, then working through the tactics at a crawl, then at a good pace. We commonly get feedback that our students are sore the next day from using muscles that they hadnt used in a while, but aside from grass-stains and a few bruises- it is a very low impact course. We will get your heart rate up and you will be tired by the end of the day- but you shouldnt be to worse for wear:)

If a student has any issues participating in a certain drill for reasons of injury, capability or physical limitation- we try to work with them to find a modified method that works for them in the training environment and in the real world as well.

    Hope this helps!
