    The Savage Rascal is most certainly not "low end stuff." Compared to an out of the box 10/22 it has better sights and a better trigger. The wood stock models are also every bit as well made as a 10/22. I love my various 10/22 configurations but the Rascal most certainly deserves some respect as well. It also does not have the fault that the Cricket does where the shooter has to work the bolt and also cock the hammer.

    I guess we have different definitions of low end.

    Low end is relevant......I think a savage Anschutz 64 is low end, but that being said, the rifle that fits you or your kids,and falls in that price point you want, is probably the right one for you....

    Are you teaching then shooting fundamental or are you training them to hit X's at the Olympics?

    Yes an accurate rifle is more fun then an inaccurate one, you are teaching shooting fundamental

    Single shot bolt gun with decent sights.....teach them fundamentals then teach them the rest
