I carry an FNP .45 in a crossbreed supertuck as well and get along with it just fine. The pros of the double stack 14+1, DA/SA, and performance completely outweigh any cons that I can think of.

The Firestar M-45 is one of the smallest all steel pistol but hard to find ,more common to find them in 9mm & 40 cal. Controls are placed similar to the 1911 also

Got to bring up the PM45 again.

    I switched from carrying a G22 to a PM45 and love it.
Its easy to conceal and as reliable as anything else I have ever owned.

Its not a range gun. Not as pleasant to shoot as a full size 1911. If you get a chance, shoot one before making a decision.

On Gunbroker I have seen Smith & Wesson mod 457 .45s sell fairly inexpensively. I used to have one of them back in the 90s, and I miss it. Will probably replace it someday, it was a good shooter and not too big, so if you,re open to a used and discontinued , model you might check them out. I just thought about it as I was reading your thread. There are many other good suggtestions people have posted. It's great to have so many choices in the land of the free. :)

Just to throw in something different. I traded for a Bersa Thunder UC 45 recently. I have really enjoyed shooting it and have been somewhat surprised with its performance. It's very concealable.
