Here is the scene from the Blue's Brothers

I have not seen the other 70s movies but what I am noticing in this thread with the few exceptions of Ronin is that the better car scenes are back from the 70s **BEFORE** all the digital magic we have now.

Case in point the Blue's Brother's completed destroyed that mall in real life. Just like in those other movies those cars physically took a beating and what we saw on film and what we did not see from the other 10s of cameras on film is the real destruction of stuff. Unlike today *cough* fast and furious series *cough* which is just too unbelievable.

<<<<< The Grand Daddy of all chases, Steve McQueen's Bullitt.

I don't know about "Best" but my two most memorable ones are the mall chase in The Blues Brothers and the final chase scene in the original Gone in 60 Seconds.

:( Now that was painful to watch. What a beautiful car the Mustang Mach I (:dunno:) and they went and destroyed it like that. :( Granted it's the 70s and mustangs are all over the place.

The other thing I noticed is the horrible (by today's standards) camera shoots and angles. :D;) The shoot of from the undercover police you can see the rearview mirror it gets in the way of the "movie". No areal shots either. :)
