Technology and products advance as time goes on, so I feel this question is worth asking again.

If price is no real concern, what is the best available hearing protection for the range that still allows you to converse with others easily, and is comfortable for extended wear?

There are a lot of electronic (active) offerings like the Peltor Tactical and Howard Leight Impact product lines, but I'd prefer an in-ear solution if there is a good one available. Over the ear solutions tend to get uncomfortable for extended wear, they also don't go as well when combined with safety glasses.

    Anyway, your opinion?

I have my second pair of custom made E.A.R. ear plugs. This is the second set I had made at an NRA event or similar where they made the plugs to fit in my ear and I have not been successful in getting them in since.

So, I am leery of those types of plugs though if I can get them in, they are pretty nice. I would love to get them to work. I think I have a real twisted ear canal and that is why I can't make them work.

This was my solution. Works well with my Peltors for all day at an IDPA match.
