Bought a brand new Smith & Wesson BG 380 recently. Has a neat Laser sight that seems real accurate. Got it for CC. Not sure if I need a Holster or just keep it in my pocket? Any suggestions on a brand & type of Holster. What brand of ammo is best for this Pistol?

You need a holster. For many reasons, the least of which is not to hold the gun securely in place within your pocket for quick draw. Also keeps you from grabbing the gun handle and not the gun trigger...fairly important.

Also, here is some discussion on .380 ammo - https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...-questions-reviews;-other-380-ammo-types.html

Whoo Weeee I can see you don't want that thing going off in your pocket but it is a double action, takes a bit to pull that trigger. Still a Holster seems a good Idea. Only there is about a million out there.

I have a Galco pocket holster for mine that works fine. I haven't had any ammo give me trouble - it has cycled Blazer, Wolf, PMC, PMC Starfire, S&B, Winchester, Federal, Remington, Remington HD and my own reloads, all without issue.

I have a raven pocket holster for a keltec and really like it. Being kydex it adds almost nothing to the bul.

    Other Holsters

I have a Raven that came with a Bianchi Holster but it is way to small for the BG.

Sorry, let me clarify. The company, Raven Concealment Systems, makes a pocket holster custom molded for the S&W Bodyguard .380. I have one for another model and it is very functional. The link I included will take you to the product page.

Yes, I see Snorko, seems like it might be important to get one made molded just for this gun. Checked out the link. Man do I have a hard time making up my mind. Took 2 years to pick the pistol and in the end my Wife made the decision.

You should always carry in a holster, and never carry keys or anything else in the same pocket as the pistol. The only other thing I will carry in the same pocket is a spare mag in a sneaky pete mag holster. You can pick up a Blackhawk or Uncle Mike's for $10 until you can get a better holster. There have been several great suggestions, and in a couple months I will let you know what I think of my Crossbreed Pocket Rocket I ordered for my P238.
