Man, it was a doozy! People around here don't know how to handle it well, either...there was basically no effort to clear or treat the roads at all, except the major highways...and they didn't bother salting them, just plowing them as they could. US 321, which is a heavily traveled highway that runs from Hickory to Granite Falls (and beyond, of course!), was basically shut down going north, because there's a big hill after a bridge that people kept sliding back down! Wow. Well, I guess they just don't see this much snow that often around here.

Right when it really started coming down, around 3pm. I'd just gotten back from the post office, and was glad I had no where else I needed to be!

About 4 hours later, same car!

Couldn't help but go for a walk and take some pictures...I love snow!

All in all, I'd say we got about 8-9 inches total, and right now there's sleet coming down like hell! They say maybe more snow tomorrow! :rockwoot:

Ignore the timestamps on my pictures....I know they're off, as I never changed it after daylight savings time kicked in.

I love snow. It rarely snows that much in SW Indiana. I hope we get some this year.

I used to live in NW Michigan.

Wake up, brush 5" of the car. Next day, another 5". And on and on. This lasts for about two months.

But the road crews are pretty on top of everything for the most part.

How close is that to Green Mountain, NC I am supposed to go there tomorrow to be there monday morning.

About an hour and a half east of Green Mountain here! Looks like they probably got it a little worse than us, but its warming up pretty quick today and it looks like a lot of it will be melting off soon. :noway:

On the plus side, if I just sit around and be lazy for a while today, I won't have to do too much work digging the cars out. The sun's out there hitting it pretty good.

Yep, they are calling for 1-2 in Fort Wayne. I'm pretty sure we've already got 2 and it's still coming down. And from what I gather from good ole Sand Thompson, it isn't supposed to stop until 3 am. I have a feeling we will be gett a lot more snow that suspected.

    YAY for a WHITE Christmas.

2 of my dogs love it, the third not so much. He's a 14 y/o chocolate lab with bad hips though, so it's understandable.

I love the snow! And am glad I got a couple new tires on my car today or else my drive to 21st century would of sucked! But if it gets too deep I'll be driving the ranger instead, just need some weight in the back. But I doubt it'll get that bad.

Thanks for the update. I hope I can get a hold of the guy I am to meet in NC so I don't leave and then waste time because it is still to deep to see what I need to see around the rr tracks.

I'm gonna put total around 18-22" and it has finally started to taper off to flurries in the last 1/2 hour.

Yeah, it's complete BS...We get the extreme temp, but no friggin' snow...

I don't mind it being cold, but if it's cold, I want it to be white!

We haven't had a white Christmas in what...6 years? It was before my brat was born, I'm almost positive of that.
