It'll be interesting to watch and see where this goes...I'm just glad that our country's founders had the foresight to enshrine our rights in writing that are still valid today!

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., announced the legislation, alongside fellow members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, saying they intended to codify the court rulings in two key gun rights cases into law. The cases, Washington, D.C. v. Heller and New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, found, respectively, that Americans have an individual right to bear arms irrespective of participation in a militia, and that they have the right to carry firearms outside their homes.

Won't go anywhere. The Senate won't touch this.

Doesn't SCOTUS interpret existing law? Which would make new laws redundant? What am I missing?
It’s the typical Republican BS. When they can’t really do anything they like to pass crap that won’t go anywhere to say look people, we are working hard for you.

sort of like spending. They are all deficit hawks now but get GOP control of everything again and suddenly they love spending as much as the Dems.

Too much codification...take away all the 'free' money and we wouldn't have an unemployment issue in this country!

MAJOR problems with how the bill is worded . . . leaves a massive hole Gun Grabbers can use to go around Heller, McDonald and Bruen. See how it's worded only mentioning "history" and not bothering to define "history" and tie it back to 1791 when the 2nd Amendment was written and ratified. Any law passed or AFT Rule made and implemented yesterday is IMMEDIATELY part of "history", including the NFA, GCA, Hughes Amendment, and the most recent "Safer Communities Act" passed last year. ALL of those are now "history" as what constitutes "history" isn't defined. Think that won't be exploited? Look at what the current administration and AFT have been exploiting and attempting to exploit.

We don't need this bill. SCOTUS already spoke in Bruen.

There is no difference between a law and a USSC ruling for longevity in the courts, either one can be overruled by a future court.

A law can be changed by the other side without the courts.

This is exactly the process we see time and time again. It's a successful tactic used by both parties.
It's even better when it's a hot social issue. Ginning up those fights increases contributions from small donors.
