    i broke the stock on my remington 770 in 30-06:rockwoot: lol have not found were I can get new stock or aftermarket stock. Or is my best bet to take to gun smith?

    nice will give them a try ty.. tempted to get a custom one made but cant even find anyone that will do it....lol

    There are literally dozens of aftermarket stocks for the Rem 700 long action... Google? Bell Carlson, Hogue, X-Tac, AI, ATI, Choate...and on and on

    I would not dump custom stock money into a 770. Most employees at walmart will tell you they are the same thing as the 700, but they are not.

    Find the cheapest stock you can (mabye ebay) and If you want to see what it will do sell the 770 and start fresh with a 700.

    I have seen the mounting lug break off on the 770. It is a molded peice of the stock( If it is the same as my buddies) I would drill it and thread a after market lug.

    I prefer the Boyds stock. I have a feather weight thumb hole on my 700. I really love it.
