Have finally made a junk (cost of hair dryer (goodwill) and some black pipe) forge. Have begun to try to heat and hammer blades. First attempt is a RR spike knife, after fiddling around with some bricks I had laying around I made walls and a roof and heated the metal up good. Think I need to find where they sell coal( help stick it to Obama). Coal will burn hotter and longer than charcoal I think, will up load pictures of my horrible attempt but know that this is something that will evolve over time and doesn't happen overnight; especially on my low to no cost budget, also gonna come up with. A better anvil and working area More to come!!

I can make a chunk of steel look like a 4th of July sparkler with charcoal. Gets hot enough to burn the carbon out of it.

Check out Iforgeiron.com there is a TON of good knowledge and people there. It's like ingo for smiths.
