Bloomberg is on a roll tonight with Pierce. The public owns guns that shoot down airliners and guns are no different than a pandemic. Per Bloomberg, "Banning guns will not stop all of it (crime) but you can stop most of it."

    Somewhere over the rainbow
Of course it does matter. If you go to Harvard or Yale it is part of the culture to have powerful alumni come through to meet the undergrads. It is a big club. Thus they want to recruit a few outsiders to keep the blood fresh.

And the better the school then the better chance you have of getting into a top grad school. An MBA or a law degree from a ranked school opens door that you would never get if you went to an online school or a third ranked college. There are law firms that only hire from one law school.

Yeah, any degree is better than being uneducated. But there is a ranking system, especially if you want to be in positions of power and influence.
That is what they would like you to believe as they pump up their reputations. Simply going to an Ivy without making the personal connections to the hoi polloi is an exercise in futility. Plenty of Ivy League grads bumping around in dead-end careers. Although you can always come back to Hooterville and dazzle the locals with your learning.

Here's another take on that blithering idiot's comment about Cops going on strike.

And now for the inevitable mention of the law of unintended consequences: If people are led to believe that all law enforcement officials might up and abandon their jobs and the public will be completely on its own in an increasingly anarchic environment, what item will find its way onto many shopping lists? Think it through, Mr. Mayor:

Michelle Malkin » Bloomberg: Maybe cops across the country should go on strike until tougher gun control laws are passed

Maybe I'm being too sensitive? It had to happen though.

The problem with the attitude that we can solve all problems with laws, technology or talking it to death is that eventually you create a police state were everything is forbidden. Yes the women in society love the idea that they can be protected without having to answer to a husband or a father. But in the end they become slaves.

And guys like James Holmes are so smart that there is no law that they can not get around. The anarchist movement (libertarian-socialists) is filled with them. Just look at the anarchist hacker group Anonymous. The libertarian-socialists dislike feminism and progressivism just as much as they hate big corporations. They see it all as fascism.

Of course powerful people like Bloomberg would love a fascist state that they could be the new nobility in. That is if the average American wasn't so indepent minded, so libertarian, so individualistic.
