SOLD BMW '06 F650GS Dakar Dual Sport Adventure Bike

    SOLD

    WHAT IS IT?
I bought my 2006 BMW F650GS Dakar last fall from the original owner in Cincinnati with 4000 miles on it. It was my first bike, so I wanted something that was reliable, safe (ABS), and that fit me well. It has been a terrific bike, as I took it on a vacation ride from Indy to Albuquerque in April, and around Lake Michigan in July. It's been perfectly reliable (I changed the oil, tires, and replaced a $17 sensor) and I hate to get rid of it, but I recently found a supermoto bike so it's gotta go.

Here are some pictures of the bike:

Don't be scared by the seat height; I've got the suspension cranked all the way "up" (34" seat height); it can be lowered. Ergonomically, it feels like the new F800GS.

I put a new battery on it this Summer.

New chain and sprockets this Summer.

    Rear Tire:

I've been running Mefo Explorers and really like them. The only thing I haven't been crazy about is that they have a small amount of cracking along the edges of the lugs, which is likely from too much highway travel. The tires still have a lot of tread (>1/4") left on them.

    Stock Windshield:

I also have the tall Wunderlich screen, which I plan to put up for sale too.

WHY ARE YOU GETTING RID OF IT?
I bought a 2008 KTM 690 SMC and there isn't enough room in the garage.

    HOW MUCH? WHERE IS IT?
I am asking $5,500 for the bike without the panniers or racks. I've also got the panniers for sale for $750.

If you want to test ride it, I am going to require that you have your motorcycle endorsement, and I'd prefer that you ride a bike here so I know you can ride. If you crash it, you just bought it :D With the heated grips on HIGH, I can usually keep comfortable (in my Aerostich) in the high 30's or low 40's.

    POSSIBLE TRADES?
I am looking for the following items + cash:
    1) Giant Loop Coyote bag (Black Only)
    2) Heated Grips for a KTM 690
    3) Tail bag / SW Motech Rack for a KTM 690
    4) Giant Loop Diablo tank bag (Black Only)
    5) Wheel sliders for a KTM 690
    6) KTM 690 SW Motech GPS mount
    7) GoPro Hero Camera
    8) 9mm AR15

Here is the race that the bike is named after:

For those who had never seen this before, I thought you might enjoy it! Also cool that Nasser Al-Attiyah is a Sporting Clays / Dakar Driving champion.

I'm sorry for posting here and bumping the thread but I cannot PM you about this bike because you have 'opted not to receive private messages'. Could you rectify this or at least PM me to discuss the bike, thank you!
