    Am thinking .25-06, .257 Weatherby or 7 mm Rem Mag.
    Not a full heavy bbl, but a long range hunter. Medium heavy.

    Of course I'd also like a Merkel Helix Alpinist in 308

    LOL

    I have three deer rifles, so could use at least 3 more :)

    As much as Cabela's annoyed me, the 12fv is a lot of rifle for the money.

    I have two of them. Lot of rifle for the money, and I think the 22-250 version would be a good choice for the OP. I would recommend you reserve the right to unbox and cycle the action and refuse any particular sample from inventory in favor of another. You will WANT to pick the litter on these. My .223 is slick and cycles great. My 6.5 has been sketchy from day one and after LOTS of hand massaging is just now becoming tolerable. The round count on the gun is <200, but I have 10x that in bolt cycles on it.
