Can you put the Magpul front MBUS on a gas block w/o it melting?

I have a ProMag polymer flip up front sight on mine. When I shot it last weekend the gas block was pretty hot, and the sight showed no sign of melting/damage. I plan on upgrading to BCM flip ups in the future.

Problem I see is the front gas block on a DPMS is not the same height as the rail on the receiver. I can't see where BCM makes a flip up for a lower gas block, so a new gas block will have to be mounted up too.

    As I said.... money pit!!!

I bought my first AR at a show:rockwoot:.

    Congrats!

Front & rear sights will cost you a total of $60 if you buy UTG

You mean $260. That's $60 for the UTGs, and $200 for the set of Troy's you'll buy after the UTGs break. :D

It would be the wrong height, and Magpul doesn't recommend it.

Troy makes the sights for BCM (they are just marked BCM). Troy makes front flip-ups that are gas-block compatible. :yesway:
