IIRC Gun Scrubber and brake cleaner are essentially the same thing. Bad on wood, terrible on plastic...

Gun Scrubber changed their formula a few years ago. It now contains Hexane and Isopropanol, a little more friendly toward plastic.
I used it on a high mileage Tristar T-120 and it really cleaned the gunk out. But I believe it melted the factory Loctite because on the first range trip after cleaning, the front sight pin came out (lost the barrel bushing) and the screw that holds down the trigger bar lifter spring and mag release spring worked it's way loose to the point of interference with the trigger bar. Too coincidental for me to believe it wasn't the Gun Scrubber. Applied new Loctite to sight pin and the screw and both have stayed in place for another 6000 rounds.

Maybe they should change the name to "Gunsmith's job security".

I bet you took a magnet with you to the range the next trip. lol.

Does the new formulation eat the o rings out of Remington's like the old stuff did?
