Is this more common than I think it is? In 30+ years of shooting shotguns, I've never had this happen. The "brass" separated from the hull during extraction leaving the hull in the chamber of my 20ga. it wasn't stuck, I pulled it right out with my pinkie. I've just never seen it happen before.

I was shooting Winchester Universal 7.5 shot target loads, out of a Remington 1100 20ga.

I've had it happen twice to me now, once with Federal Bulk pack 12ga, and once with Remington waterfowl steel 3" 12ga

The federal separated during extraction, like yours. The remington got stuck in the chamber, which made me think maybe it was just a hair too long.

Regardless, I don't shoot but maybe a flat a year so twice is a bit often.

It happens, sometimes with cheap ammo, sometimes with high end. It is a little more often with low brass. I have only had it happen with semi auto's but have seen other people experience this with break open shotguns.

Seen it a handful of times. All pretty recent (past couple years) and with Federal cheap stuff (80% sure it was always out of a semi auto). I've had Remington not extract from an 870 as well. Just one of those deals.
