Update, 7:12PM: Some additional details from FOX5: three people have been shot. Pentagon Metro Station is now closed.

According to Pentagon Force Protection Agency spokesman, the suspect walked up to the main entrance of the Pentagon at 6:40 p.m. and opened fire, hitting two officers. The officers fired back and hit the suspect, whose injuries were said to be more serious.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that when someone walks into a public area and begins shooting that at least one person decided to stop and "tweet" about it before trying to leave the area?
