Broke an Op Rod (M14)

After 36 years of shooting M1As and M14s I had a op rod break.Never seen such a thing in my life.The newer springfields are rewelds.I have a prairrie dog around the corner and the gun is down.Bad day

Where did it break? Can you post some pictures?
