I have never had any authorized charges before. I had pmags back ordered since November. They arrived in April. Soon after their charge appeared, I started getting charges from all kinds of stuff. Match.com was one of the big ones. Luckily Chase caught it right away, stopped all of it and it will not cost me anything except time and aggravation.

I hope the source is not brownells, but this was my first purchase with them, otherwise I don't use that card.

So if you have made purchases recently, check your statements closely.

I use Brownells constantly, probably twice a month if not more and have never had a issue like yours. Are you sure you do not have a virus? Is your firewall and antivirus software up to date and scanned periodically?

I pay on the net constantly...bills...utilities...purchases...if this ever happened to me I'd be screwed. I haven't mailed a bill in years. That's why I keep my firewall and anti-virus up to date...and keep my fingers crossed.

I also pay my bills online, never have I had a problem like this. It could have been a number of things, perhaps Brownells was hacked, maybe you have a virus on your PC, could have even been a cookie stealer.

Either way, what you should do is let your bank or CC company know about it, they will most likely want you to file a police report, and they should remove the charges for you. That is what was explained to me by the bank manager when I asked about online protection. He said as long as I file the police report it should be all good, and they would change my acc# and give me a new card.

It's a PITA but its better than supporting some random dude's porn fetish.

Whenever I order online I use a virtual account number for that purchase. It can only be used by that vendor (depending on the card company, maybe just that purchase). Check it out with your card company.

Hmmm...That happened to me once. I bought a couple tools from Brownells, then suddenly all sorts of charges started showing up on my credit card, and all sorts of gun stuff started showing up at my door.

My wife suspects it was an inside job. I'm not sure I understand what she's talking about.

I keep virus software and firewall on point. It might have been a fluke, and it probably was. I hold no ill will towards brownells, just a coincidence I'm sure.

On the plus side, Chase picked up on it right away. Won't cost me a dime, new card is on the way. I'll give them credit in that respect.

As much as I despise ING, the one thing I liked about their Orange card was that they would e-mail you every time a charge was made on your card. Usually, it would arrive within minutes of the charge. It was great. My M&I account doesn't offer that.

Same thing happened to me a few months back, except I never ordered from Brownell's (I think). Match.com, iTunes, some web hosting company were some of the charges. BoA fixed it, but took me a bit, good luck

My card got jacked a couple years ago after I ordered stuff from an online paintball store. TCU killed the card as soon as I called them. I was checking a statement online when I seen a charge for an online billing service. I called them and they asked if I ordered an membership to a adult site. I hit them back with some logic when I said "why pay for it when I know I could probably find it for free if I wanted to look?" The guy canceled riight awat,
