I am looking to build my first and only AR. I am on a tight budget and want to build a minimalist AR just to get my feet wet. The first step in this experience is a stripped lower. My LGS has Anderson lowers for $39.99. Seems like a good deal to me but reviews on Anderson lowers are mixed. So INGO pass on this deal or shop elseware?

I've used Anderson and helped a couple friends build with their lowers. They're forged by one of the top companies and won't give you any trouble.

Yeah $40 is about as low as you will see. I'm sure you could find a couple for $35 online, but after tranfer fees you'd be better off going local with the Anderson.

I bought a few that I found last year real cheap. Went together ok, but man were they ugly. They looked worse than any of the "blem" receivers I've seen, and they were not "blems." Ugly machine marks, thin anodizing, etc... But they function fine.

For the price, I'd rather use Aero Precision. I really like their receivers. Finish is a lot better, and I only paid $5 more for them than the Anderson's. Personally, I'm not buying any more Anderson's after the last ones I bought.

I've put a couple of Anderson lowers together with zero issues.
Each one has performed as advertised.
I'll always choose functionality over form.
Anderson's are a good lower, and that is a great price.

Bought a stripped Anderson lower for my build and has functioned flawlessly. Over 1k rounds thru. Definitely would pick it up at that price. I paid $50 for mine
