I am surprised the GAP glock was so far up the list. But at that price and for the gun (I like the GAP cartridge and wish it had more popularity, despite the image of a answer for an unasked question! :D ), what the heck, I'll buy one!

I also expected to see more Taurus Judges, Ruger LCPs, etc.. I did consider the price point most of the guns on that list are at: They are at a lower for average area than most gun shops and for their categories: Example: The Doublestar AR is probably a better deal than the Olympic Plinkers, for just slightly more.

By the time you pay shipping and transfer fees, those prices don't strike me as being much better than a local shop. But then, maybe other people's local shops suck wind. :):

The 3 Hi Points total about $470 together. hehe

Easy to see why they are all ranked high when you can buy one for each room in your trailer.

Some of their prices are good, I know the M&P Pro "was" $539 for a while but it went up to $569,,,, Elmore's wanted $695 for the same gun

I would have a bought a Pro if they had one this week, but they were out of stock.

I too am a little surprised that they did not sell more Glocks, but heck, I've seen where you can get certain Glock models from $469-$509 OTC locally.

    10 9mm's

...but i thought glocks ruled the world and 9mm was sub-par

    :D

Just because a lot of people buy it doesn't mean its not sub-par. And this is one retailer.

I bet KIA sells a lot of cars because they are cheap, does that mean its the best car out there? nope, just that a lot of people buy it.

I stopped reading when SIGMA's were leading the way... tells me people are just buying cheap.

    Observations:

Average price - $404. Standard deviation for the population - $155.

Of the 20 guns on the list (which I've thought about a bit since receiving in email on Monday), I'd say 8 are on there for mostly economic reasons, i.e. they were good deals (closeouts, specials, etc at the time), or inexpensive models. Economics 101. Low priced guns sell.

Only 3 of the guns on the list are long guns, the rest are handguns, and the 3 long guns are all defensive models. - ergo defensive needs drove 2009 purchases.

Of the 17 handguns on the list, the most popular caliber (by far) is the 9mm (10 of 17, followed by 3 in 40S&W, 1 in 380acp, 1 in 45acp, 1 in .22lr, and 1 in 45gap). Hmm. A little more skewed than I would have expected.

Of the 17 handguns on the list, only 1, the Beretta 92 has a metal frame. The rest are polymer.

There’s always room for a cheap 12 ga shotgun (#18).

S&W should take a hint from #10 – few people other than lawyers and nanny politicians like magazine disconnects.

Not one revolver is on this list.

Surprised not to see more pocket pistols on the list like the Kel-Tec P3ATs, P32s, and Ruger LCPs. Many fit the price and defense profile.

FYI... KIA is consistently in the top 3 each year for Korean cars sold in the US. They are better than Lexus and Acura.

I know the M&P can be bought with or without the mag disconnect, both of mine the Full Size .40 and Pro 9mm do not have a mag release, I'm not sure about their other offerings.

California passed legislation in 2006 requiring magazine disconnects on all new handgun designs sold in the state starting January 1, 2007.

    Interesting observations :yesway:

They've also done a run of 442/642s without the internal lock for the last year or two that sell out like hotcakes.

First off... There is nothing wrong with Bud's. They offer just as many high-end guns as they do low-end guns. Their top 20 list has more to do with how well they priced those specific guns. Also, the prices listed are their current prices for those models and not necessarily what those guns sold for earlier in the year. They sold a lot of Sigmas because they had them for $279 and $289 earlier this year (plus a $50 rebate), so they had the one of the best Sigma deals going for a while. Same goes for the M&P9s. They were $439 earlier this year. Same goes for Springfields, Walthers and Berettas. Through-out the year they ran various deals on those. Hi-Points surprise me, but I think a lot of folks just bought them when they saw how cheap they were. Pockets Pistols (P3ATs and LCPs) were not in stock for most of the year and their prices weren't that much better than your LGS on those.

I consider Bud's my LGS :) and check out their site weekly. Great to deal with and depending on what you are looking for, the best prices around even after $20 FFL transfer fee. (remember you don't pay tax because they are in Kentucky).

I check out Bud's often. If you are looking for a specific gun chances are they will have it or will get it soon. I think their prices are good and include shipping. So, I figure if I wanted a specific model, I will have my dealer get it. Even with a $25 transfer fee, their prices are still a good deal.
