One of my other hobbies is woodworking. I thought it would be unique to have a wooden butt plug for my GLOCK 22. Made from cherry.

Nice work. What is the reason for plugging up that hole. I know there is one I just don't know enough about Glocks even though I own one.

AFA you should post a thread with more of your work. I'd like to see it.

Well, in slaves suspected to have Cholera they used butt-plugs made of wax in an attempt to avoid spreading the disease; especially in ships or prior to sale. The cherry one sounds fancy.

Oh, you were talking Glocks...my understanding is that it is used to keep debries out.

That looks very nice! Much nicer than the other ones I've seen on the net and in the stores!

There are many "reasons" for the butt plug. Keeping dirt out is one and some think the added weight (you can get brass ones) helps in muzzle flip. I did it just for the look, nothing more, nothing less.

Made this for my Father-In-Law's Casket flag.

According to Larry Vickers' testing, getting debris (like sand) into the inside of your Glock through the hole in the backstrap is one of the few things that will make them nonfunctional. Seems like cheap insurance.

Some Glocks have a lock that is in the backstrap. But without a lock, the plug sure looks nicer.

So that hole actually leads to the internals of the gun?

should be right behind the magazine.

on my S&W 22a, that's where the hammer assembly lives.
on the USP the hammer spring, and hammer assembly is in that location as well.

I'd assume at least part of the Glock striker assembly operates at the top portion of that opening. (If I was less lazy, and more interested in glocks I'd go track down the cut away animated glock images)

I have the plug for the looks, but this thread made me think. Popped the plug out :n00b: and looked through it. You could see light through the channel into the trigger spring housing and such. Guess its for more than just looks now :)
