I occasionally see 45ACP brass for sale in the INGO Classifieds and on other 1911/.45 gun forums. If there is a local reloading supply store near you, they may sell used brass. The one near me in Jeffersonville sells used brass that has already been tumbled.
For 45acp, used brass is fine. I have used range pickups for years and
find very few bad brass. Some stepped on, a few split. But I would say I get 99.9% usable brass on the range. Just tumble/clean check them for
dents/cracks before loading and you are fine. Good Luck
8th is right. The .45 is one of the semi autos that is not picky about brass and is not hard on it. I have some old brass that has been reloaded so many times that you can hardly read the headstamp, and it still works fine.
Do what I do, go where people shoot their guns, when they leave pick up the brass they leave behind, feels good cleaning up the trash other people leave behind
