First impressions? I just ordered mine yesterday with no expectation of seeing it in a while.

My impression is very favorable. Doesn't appear to have a canted front sight, fit and finish is good, although the one mag I tried was a little loose, but not horrible. Probably going to take it camping this weekend and see how it shoots. :)

IIt came with not only the 5 mags, but it also has the sling, bayonet and cleaning kit. Palmetto didn't advertise it that way like AIM did, so I wasn't expecting it. Makes it an even sweeter deal!

They list the cleaning kit and the bayonet on their site, no mention of the sling but I wouldn't expect much of one. Been looking at a Magpul MS1 in either gray or ranger green with a paraclip for front attachment.

    Anyway........we needs pics man, dammit!

I swear I didn't see the bayonet and sling mentioned, but maybe I just missed it. At any rate it was still a nice surprise to me! :):

The button to release the side folder is a little stiff, but I can live with that, and I'm sure it will loosen up as time goes by. I will probably wind up replacing it with a fixed stock anyhow.

WooHoo!! Gun porn! Fit and finish on the mags and the rifle itself look good?

And I just got my shipping notification too :yesway:

But, I forgot today is Wednesday and not Tuesday so with the 4th being Friday, it probably won't be delivered until Monday. So close, yet so far

I ordered mine on June 17. Got shipping notification last night at 8:45pm that it had shipped. As of this morning, it had still not been picked up by UPS. Looks like I will not have my new VZ until after Independence Day :(

    PSA are COMMIES!!!!

Just wondering, has anyone on INGO SBR'd one of these? I tried to search for one but to no avail. On other forums some people said "why would you do such a thing?", others were more interested.

The Bang Switch blog guy did a review of the factory version (err, that would not be "factory", but Czechpoint) SBR. They were supposed to be sold through AGS, and they probably were. But they ain't no $400.

Everything looks good. The sling is even new. The mags are really light weight too. I really hope I'm able to shoot it this weekend. And look on the bright side... how often do you look forward to Monday?? :):

Really cool looking rifle. Was looking for an inexpensive entry into 7.62x39 and this looked like the ticket.

Ordered mine on 6/20. (Im)Patiently waiting for the shipping notification. Really excited about this rifle and like that it's something different.

Mine is sitting in the UPS hub in Indy for the next 3.5 days.

I imagine Raiders of the Lost Ark

I never thought I'd say this, but that's too short, even for a SBR. It just don't look right.

I agree, that seems too short. Maybe 2" longer and we're good to go. Is there anything required other than cutting the barrel and re-threading? I mean, other than your typical SBR paperwork.

That thing was completely different. The piston length, gas port location, everything past the receiver was out of the norm. I looked into VZ SBRs a little, seems like the way to go is 12" and have the gas port opened up a little. Found some people recommending AZEX. Uses the same piston set up and barrel, just shorter and the front sight relocated

The vz.58 SBR that the Bangswitch mentioned never came to fruition, as AGS had issues with the importer. The best way that I know how to SBR one of these fine rifles would be to order one of the "pistol" versions sold by Czechpoint. Or you could buy a CNC warrior receiver and get a barrel made for it, or take your chances cutting one down. I'd like to SBR one at some point, but for now, I want a vz2008 for a "trunk gun".
