    A de facto ban.

How about telling journalist that all forms of communication using electronics, ink, graphite, or any other "marking" system is now illegal. And all they have to do is come up with something else.

Yeah, we lived out there for a couple of years before coming to our senses and moving back to Indiana. Beautiful place with a lot to do, but too many downsides. Crowded, expensive, liberal, and operates like a 3rd world country. They were having rolling blackouts for the first few months that I lived there, and it took 3 months to get our drivers licenses.

CA Governor Signs Law Requiring Unworkable Technology for New Guns

Gun Owners of California reports Newsom signed AB 2847, which “forces manufacturers to use microstamping technology in order to have new handguns on the approved [California DOJ] roster.”

The CA DOJ maintains a roster of new guns approved for sale in the state of California. Beginning July 1, 2022, only new guns with microstamping technology will be added to the list.

Moreover, each time a gun with microstamping technology is added to the roster three guns without such technology will be removed.

Microstamping technology has proven unworkable everywhere it has been tried, as it is easily thwarted by criminals who understand how it works.

For example, on November 8, 2015, Breitbart News reported Maryland ended a ballistic fingerprinting program after spending 15 years and $5 million without solving a single crime. The New York Times reported New York also tried an experiment with microstamping/ballistic marking requirements beginning on 2009.

State lawmakers defunded the failed experiment in 2012.

No, they don't want to ban handguns. They simply want to stop letting people to buy guns that the state had previously approved for their silly little list.

Not that I support this nonsense, but this is more of the same for Commiefornia and they know it's pointless virtue signaling since microstamping will almost certainly never happen.

This is the same pack of morons that just outlawed all gas powered vehicles too. They may as well outlaw the moon next since that's just as likely to become reality.

I think you're missing the bigger picture. It's far more than just virtue signalling. It means if microstamping technology never comes to pass than the state will never add another handgun to the approved list. Yet they continue to tighten restrictions that result in approved guns being removed, such as mag limits.

At some point, the list of approved guns will be whittled down to a handful of small caliber, low round count pistols that are all but useless for self defense. But they will still argue, "we aren't completely banning guns, just the dangerous ones."

Here is a model from 2014 showing the projected trend for guns being removed from the CA compliant roster. Somehow I doubt it's gotten less restrictive over the past 6 years.

ETA: There are currently 829 approved models with many set to expire at the end of the year.

Same boat, was out in SF for 3 years before moving here. Its legitimately become a 3rd world country but with crazy rent. Would see drug deals and homeless people defecating regularly outside my >$2500/m apartment.

Its even more dramatic then the chart reflects, in 2014 CA also banned "Singe Shot Exemption". For a while if you wanted an off-roster gun you could have the dealer mail it with a "device" blocking the magwell. I took advantage & so did many folks on CalGuns, after that shut down, they cracked down on LEO's private party transfers that circumvented the roster. Pretty sure the only reason we still have Gen 3 Glocks in production selling for MSRP is the CA Roster.

I was in CA from 2011 to 2016, pretty much each year you had to watch for regulatory changes. Not sure if you've seen what CA AR's have become...

It could be my poor writing skills, but the emphasis intended was that it's just more of the same from them. By way of their elected officials they have already long ago agreed to the roster and CA has been doing everything possible to reduce it down to a blank sheet of paper since day one and that's been no secret. They voted for this. It's old news.

This legislation is just some stupid feel-good nonsense because it is almost certainly never going to happen as written, but the politicians can all say they're tough on guns, which appears to be what their constituents want, and pat themselves on the back in an election year. Again, see the banning of gas powered vehicles.

If the guys in CA want to put up a good fight, it's going to be won with 3D printers and CNC routers, not in their legislature. That day has passed, IMO.

Revolver or 10 seconds with 60 grit.
I'm confused, what does the revolver part mean?

And people think I'm crazy whenever I say a handgun ban will be next if they ever get another AWB. It's already happening in California.

One day, the people in charge of that state will get six feet deep, then they will be able to get buried....they are shoveling like the dickens right now. :n00b:

All that I think is that this is far from the end out there. Any sane person there must have an exit strategy.

You would think that's the case, but it's not. I've seen so many blue staters say that they can't leave because of family and career commitments. I can't understand that. My freedom comes before my career and family. Maybe that's F'ed up, I don't know, but that's how I am. I'm originally from NY state. My Mom, sister, and what little is left of my side of the family still live there. Moving back there will never be a consideration for me. My wife is originally from MI. I briefly considered movig there when I retire, until I started researching the political climate there. Even my wife doesn't want to move there.

I love Indiana, and I really hope the state government never gives me a reason to leave it. Whenever I travel out of state, I get this kind of excitement when I see a "Welcome to Indiana" sign in the distance, and this sense of relief when I pass it. It might sound weird, but it's absolutely true. I feel free here. I feel at home here. I hope it stays that way.

Ok, I'll throw in a funny story about how I got here. When I was stationed in Alaska, I had finally achieved enough rank that my branch manager would take me seriously about discussing my next assignment. First he offered me Fort Hood, Texas. I quickly turned that down, as I had spent about 20 years there from 1991-1995. I was looking for something different, like an EO tour, or an AC/RC tour or something. So he would offer me something , and I would tell him I'd research it and get back to him. He'd offer me something like an AC/RC tour in South Carolina, so I'd research the gun laws there, and call the unit, and find out that the assignment was was actually at their HQ in Massachusetts. Nope. So I'd call him back, and get another offer, and the same thing would happen. Finally, I told him I couldn't go anywhere that had bad gun laws, and he asked "What kind of guns do you have?!?!". I told him it wasn't anything crazy, just some semi-autos. He said "oh", and laughed. Then I asked about Indiana. He said, "Sure, I can always get an E-7 to Indiana", and here I am. There a couple funny follow on stories with that guy, but I won't bore you with them here. Bless that man for sending me here. Now you know who to blame for me being here. :abused:

Not so much the people in charge there as the idiots who live there and keep voting for the same libtard socialists who should be locked up by now given the current state of affairs in Commiefornia.
