I've had a kestrel 556 for two years now. Back when I bought mine I just went the old fashioned route and met the local sheriff instead of doing a trust. Now, I'd like to also get a .30 cal can, and possibly a dedicated 22lr can. From what I understand of Obama's exec orders I should still be able to get this done. Where I'm confused is that I don't know what has changed. I don't follow the NFA world like a hawk, but I follow enough to know there were some changes. Yes I did do some searching first...

    Please advise.

If you do it the "old fashion way" now, it'll be the same as the last time you did it. If you wait until July, the difference would be that you would NOT had to have your sheriff sign off on the forms, but would instead just send him a copy of the form for his information. The rest will be the same.
