I'm almost ashamed to post this,in fear that someone will think I was drinking. When I went to work today I passed the neighbors pond and noticed a goose on it ( not un common). What I did find odd was the way it was acting. Lots of splashing and flapping its wings. then I looked up and above that goose about 7 -8 ft was another sitting on a branch. I have hunted ducks and geese most of my adult life and never seen this until now. I wish I would have had my camera.

There were two on top of the building when I got to work this morning.

Never seen one in a tree though.

While not the OP's goose in question here is a pic of a goose in a tree.

That's the wrong decoy up in that tree. :)
I've see them standing on branches and stumps that are above the water line.
I did see a nice little group of diver ducks yesterday on the lake. Some buffleheads, scaups & golden eyes.

yes , I have often seen them roost in trees.. usually a large tree , since they can not grip like other birds can..

walking thru my woods at night i have scared up a big flock before.. kind of spooky..
