    Okay gang....everyone here knows I am a dyed-in-the -wool 1911 .45 aficionado since 1980.

However, my son is leanin toward the Canik 55 Stingray in 9mm as his EDC

I just read a couple of favorable reviews in an older American Handgunner and a Combat Handgun magazine...

Anyone here with practical hands-on with the Stingray or the longer Shark model?

Thanks for your time and efforts

I've got the Canik55 Stingray-C. I would not hesitate to carry it as an EDC. I picked mine up to throw in a bug out bag, but before doing so I cycled 200-300 rounds through it and was impressed with both it's construction and it's accuracy. I don't know where you are, but if you're local to Indy you're welcome to have him check it out in person before he buys. Send me a PM if you're close.

I'll put on the flame suit now, but having examined (and shot) both, the Canik is better machined than the base CZ, with a better trigger, and more like $150 less...

i wouldn't hesitate to use either as an EDC.

It's pretty simple really. If you want to get a quality gun where the trigger will improve with use and you aren't interested in investing in after-market parts then the Canik is the way to go.

I don't own a Canik but do have a SAR built Armalite 24K and can attest to the fact that the Turks can build a heck of a nice gun. The machine work is a step above my CZ but parts are harder to come by. The thing is built like a tank too.

I owned a canik 55 shark FC and that was one heck of a gun to shoot. Absolutely loved it. Just not my thing.

A would 2nd that the Turks appear to build a nice gun. One of my friend purchased a Tisas that is every bit the equal of his other 1911 (Rock Island).
