The way our "leaders" hate anything associated with AK or AR, I would suggest go with the AK while still inexpensive and readily available. They are fun to shoot also. :ar15:

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet but the AK would be much more pleasant to shoot and would also be cheaper to shoot, too. Just saying since no one here brought it up yet.

You will have more fun with the AK, get that first. If you get the .500 you won't be shooting it that much, because of the recoil and the cost of the ammo.

Having shot both, get the AK definitely! They are fun to shoot, relatively accurate and ammo is cheap. Would you rather have fun plinking at $0.20 a round or at $3.00 a round?

Just curious but are you looking for something to have for a purpose or a collection item? If your after a shooter that you can take to the range or plink around with I would say the choice is clear, but then again I hear them S&W 500's are nice to blow holes in stuff..

I cant decide between getting an Ak pattern rifle or a S&W 500 ive wanted both for a long time

have the guy get both on the counter top and you close your eyes and he shuffles them back an forth and with your eyes still closed you point left or right and then that be the gun you are getting

I'd go with the AK. As stated by others the cost of ammo for the 500 is a lot more expensive. On some sites you can get 1000 rnds of 7.62 x 39 for $200.00. It's dirty ammo but AK's will eat it up.

compare prices for 7.62x39 and 500 S&W i think that will help make up your mind

The AK is more versatile and has many more options to interchange and modify. The 500 is awesome to shoot but I would say AK first then 500 later.
