Holy crap!!! I did not hear about this
any idea why? Thank goodness likely no one there
You’re younger than me. I graduated in 1996, I don’t think we had that area done but was probably right after I left
Did they say it was the gas that ignited? That kinda looks to me more like the boiler was under pressure and let loose.
That'd make a bigger bang than the gas, from what I've read.

I watched the tv news report(s) last night on two different channels. My nephew is a Lt. on CFD and his mother texted us to say his face might be on camera. The CFD spokesperson, not our nephew, when asked for comments stated the department response time was “a minute or less to be on scene” - to which I call BS. Ain’t no dept. gonna be on scene in under a minute even if the shift personnel are sitting it a running engine waiting to be paged out ! I’ll give them kudos for their actions, but the guy didn’t need to resort to hyperbole to make CFD look good.

They were relighting was all I have read.
You only press the reset on the ignition module 1 time. Just 1 time.
Having worked in Carmel, and knowing the ridiculous runs CFD has to take, there very well may have been an engine in-service on its way back to the firehouse, that was fortunate enough to get there that quickly.
