The football game I went to, we got the inner and outer leg, around the waist band and ankle sweep pat down. Either the security guard was coming on to me, or they do things differently in Detroit. But I was just thinking about this for our next trip up there. I was thinking about stashing it in the "do not touch" zone, and retrieving it in the restroom after making it in. Thoughts?

Been escorted out of Lucas Oil once for an ankle holster last year. That wasn't a problem the rest of the season. I must have just got that one guy who likes to do his job thoroughly.

That's what I did at Victory Field last week.

Didn't even need to. ESG didn't touch me or make me do a thing. He looked in my girlfriend's purse and just waved me through.

I could have carried anything in there.

So yeah, I went to the restroom and got comfortable.

I've carried in Verizon wireless and Lucas Oil. Used an ankle holster at Verizon, pocket carried into Lucas. I know the ankle holster will get me through just about anyplace, but I did see a few pat downs at Lucas, I just walked by the SG and went on in, he never gave me a second look.

Question for the security guys on here. Would an empty holster act as an effective decoy? I'm thinking of an empty belt holster and carrying in a Smart Carry behind a large buckle to confuse the wand or in an ankle rig. The belt holster would add to the cover story that I left it in the car because I knew I couldn't bring it in with me and I didn't want to take time removing the holster. Do you think that that would work?

Are you hoping for some extra special attention?

Sort of on topic. My father and I just left Bristol (8th row, middle of the back straight... Sweet) and we talked about how lax security is at nascar events. I think that is the only sporting event that you are allowed to bring your own beer, as long as it's not in a hard cooler or in a glass container. But, again, no pat down, no metal detector, no searching bags beyond to be sure you aren't bringing in the aforementioned glass. I could have been packing any number of things. Anybody could have, and probably were. I know I had my knife handy (only because it has a bottle opener on it). I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I enjoy the freedom, on the other, I question the security of so many gathered in one place, that some wack-job could come in and do whatever...as long as he doesn't have glass in his cooler.

There is this little track on the West side of Indy... they've had this race on Memorial Day weekend for about 100 years...

(This should be purple, can't change font on my phone) Oh, RLY, I didn't know that...

You can't turn down free tickets to Bristol.

Btw, someone should come up with a smart ass font/color. Lol.;)

The only sporting event or concert I have been to in the time that I have been carrying was NHRA in Indy. No security checks of any kind. I carried a full size 1911 under a t-shirt with about 2 inches of barrel hanging out. This was about 2 years ago exactly because it was the August race. Got to meet John and Ashley Force. It was pretty sweet.

Quit thinking like a lib. The whole point of citizen carry is to DETER crime and interject if necessary. A whack job is going to be far less likely to try and pull something at an event where he doesn't know who is carrying than at a concert or other place where it's a 'gun free zone.' Common sense here.
