I've been a supporting member of the IMA for years, but I've never inquired about their official policy. Anyone here know?

I was a security officer @ the IMA years ago. We were told to ask anyone carrying, to leave, unless they were FBI. Not even local cops were allowed to carry.
That said, I carried a G19 under my shirt every day & never asked anyone to leave.

Curious why FBI got a pass?

I worked there for about 6 months as a Security Shift Sup after I ETS'd in '96. To my knowledge, IMA is a privately owned facility and can make whatever policy they choose. I was specifically advised that weapons were verboten except for on duty law enforcement. This has been quite a fews years ago so I have no idea what the policy is now, though. I wouldn't be surprised if it is still a GGZ though.

I OC'd there a few weeks back and had no issue. The security at the door even greeted me and later told me to have a nice day as I was leaving. I'm sure they knew I was not LEO, as I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

To bring this back on topic - can you carry at the IMA?

Yes, you Kandinsky. Just don't get Warhol'd off by the guards.

You Sir, are bringing far too much culture to this site.

We all do what we can, where we can. :)

I would like to know who owns IMA, but I can't find anything online. Even Beacon doesn't know.

I believe it is owned by the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Inc., a private entity. If you look on the Indiana Secretary of State's business lookup, it shows that entity as having been formed in 1892. :) The Marion County assessor lists the owner as the Art Association of Indianapolis, which I believe was the previous name of the IMA, Inc.
