Don't forget, the Interstate Safe Passage Act applies to us too.

The reason I don't rely on the Interstate safe passage act is because states like NY and NJ only allow it to be used a defense after being arrested for carrying a firearm.

When in a state that doesn't have reciprocity with us I stay creative and hide it very very well, and most importantly keep my mouth shut. :D

While a fairly unknown and obscure piece of legislation, it must NEVER be overlooked by us or it most CERTAINLY will be by them!

When I was in that boat I chose to carry anyways and just keep my mouth shut. If I never needed it, no one would be the wiser, if I did need it I may have to find a new job but at least I'd be alive to do so. I wouldn't have used it to protect the cargo though, they made it clear they didn't care about my life or their freight. I would only have used it for my OWN protection. My family deserves for me to come home to them and NO job is worth that not happening.

Not to twist this out of context but
In a Motorhome when you are on the road you are a vehicle, when you are parked you are in your residence. Just the same as in a Motel/Hotel
Now this brings to ask when you are sleeping in your sleeper (Camper) would this not be your residence for the evening/day whatever?

Yes, when parked and logged into the sleeper berth it is a dwelling and the gun can be loaded and at your side as long as you could do so in your home in whatever local you are parked.

No guns allowed in CMVs has to be the most pervasive myth in the trucking industry. I have probably heard it hundreds of times.

I routinely try to dispel it, but I think that few people ever believe me.

I guess all we can do is to keep spreading the truth in the hope that it will eventually set us free. :)

i wrote company policy/handbook regarding CMV's where i work and found nothing in law about carry in CMV. I am not a lawyer. Follow the state laws where you are going, carry concealed, and you are likely good to go. that's my :twocents:.

been through several roadside inspections of varying degrees while carrying concealed and never felt inclined to advise the officer. act courteous and professional is my best advice.

But what if you had to drive through the communist state of Illinois where you have to have a FOID card just to own a firearm? Im sure you could just hide it in the sleeper, but I know I would want it to be legal.

In IL I think you have to be a resident to get the FOID card. In this situation I'm not certain. Screw IL I'm not going to be the only guy in ****cago WITHOUT a gun!

Having lived and worked in the firearm business in Illinois for 12 years my advice is to drive AROUND it. Seriously. I do. It is a Socialist Democratic State. If they pull you over without the FOID card and you have a gun you WILL Go To Jail.

SSHHhhh I'm in the communist state right now. I only stopped because the ice storm and my trailer is light. But it's not hard to make a great hiding spot in the bunk of a truck.;)
