casting and loading 45 70 bullets?

i just started casting my own bullets and have been reloading for about a year now and have a few questions on loading my casted 405g .457 bullets. i have about 100lbs of lead from a friendly plumber i believe this lead is soft but dont know for sure.

#1 i just learned of leading and cant find anything on the great google about how to harden my bullet so i wont get leading, but can find guys saying they dont get it or they do. so does anyone know how to harden a bullet to keep from leading ?

#2 how should i lube these bullets im going for 1650fps max i see many methods as to how to lube pan, tumble, sube sizer. but do not know which i should use. any help would be greatly appreciated

1650fps is Waaaayyyyyy to fast for cast lead. Here is a site that will answer most of your questions.

I think you need to add an alloying metal to harden the lead.

First, go here, Glen E. Fryxell, Cast bullets and firearm information and history and download Dr. Glens book.
It's a free download and full of good stuff. Read his articles too.
Then, do like wolfman said and go to castboolits. They're a really good bunch of guys that have forgotten more about casting than I'll ever know.
