    First of all, I don't carry a purse ;)

    I have a Glock 26, I use a Galco Mdl# RG286 IWB holster for carry.

Now for the part that will help the ladies wishing to purse carry. Purchase an Uncle Mikes holster and velcro with 3M backing. Apply the velcro to the Uncle Mikes holster and the opposing side in your purse where you wish the holster to remain fixed. I use this set up in my tank bag for my motorcycle and always know which direction the grip is and where the BANG end is pointed.
This way you constantly know where your firearm is and what direction it is pointed. If your purse is ANYTHING like my Mother's you could lose a small dog in it ;)

I'm NOT an expert... but most dirt bags that are going to attack a female are going for your PURSE! It might be to rob you, or worse. But getting that purse away from you will take away any chance at a phone, mace, brick, or what ever else the feminine mind carries for a weapon or means of getting help. Let them have your purse then use your gun to get it back! Besides throwing a purse or wallet at a guy is a great distraction to give you all the time in the world to P.P.P. (PULL-POINT-PULL)

    just my :twocents:

I don't usually carry a purse anymore but I'd never put my cell phone, keys OR gun in it. Too obvious of a target and too much to bother with. So now I have my ID/LTCH/Debit card in a card holder in one pocket, my knife/chapstick in another pocket, keys in another pocket and gun somewhere else. I do tend to wear cargo's though so plenty of pockets :D

    Rayne, you're quite welcome ;)

I learned two important rules from Mom a long time ago:
    1.) Never **** off a woman

2.) NEVER **** off an armed woman

I am interested in the information on this thread. I have researched quite extensively the pros and cons of purse carry, but sometimes it just seems the best option for the current situation.

My son is looking at colleges in Philadelphia and I feel better to purse carry than not at all. I just feel it is better concealed and I don't want to have any issues in Phila. I am not ready to deal with that just yet. Have only had my LTCF for 3 months.

You carry the way that is most comfortable to you, don't worry about the other arguments. The key is to practice accessing and removing your firearm from wherever you carry so you know what to expect and how to do it.

Don't worry about the arguments over OC and CC, the big thing is you are exercising your right to carry. The rest is like arguing over which baseball team is better.

There are many options for women when it comes to carrying concealed. You have all the holsters, you have carry specific purses, you have carry specific fanny packs. You can also alter a purse in the fashion I described so you have a fixed holster in your purse if you don't want to spend the money for the carry purses.

Any way you do it, do it comfortably and stay safe :)

I purse carry most times and I am very comfortable with my decision.
I also think a person ( no specific gender) should always be aware of their surroundings at all times. I agree witha previous post from 88GT I think that if you walk and look frail or look an easy target then you probably will be one versus a person who looks alert and who is paying attention. It is a personal preference and there is no right or wrong for purse carrying. :twocents:
Just as long as you carry and you are comfortable with it I think that should be all that matters.

Since I ride a motorcycle sometimes, and I never carry a purse then <IMG class=inlineimg title=Smile border=0 alt="" src="https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif" smilieid="1"> I bought a small zippered thing that holds my driver's license on the outside, has change purse that would fit chapstick, one of those travel Advil tubes and gum as well. It has an insert eith slots for credit cards, an area for cash and/or receipts, as well as another plastic covered DL slot that I use for my LTCH (it can't be seen unless I take the insert out.) Oh heck.. let me just take a couple photos so you can see. Whenever I don't want to carry my purse, I just take this out of it and put it in my pocket. I've used this longer than any wallet I've ever had. If you can find something like this, you'll be all set! I have no idea where I got it though--sorry!</P>

<P>The other side of the credit card insert thingy has a clear plastic area where I keep my LTCH.</P>

<P>It's a perfect size - no bigger than it has to be to carry a few things.

<P>I believe Buxton makes a small, leather&nbsp;coin purse like that.&nbsp; I saw one this evening at the local Peebles (not sure if you have them in IN).&nbsp; It was priced at $10.</P>
    <P>&nbsp;</P>
<P>You might be able to find one online or even on ebay.</P>
    <P>&nbsp;</P>
    <P>Hope this helps someone.<IMG class=inlineimg border=0 alt=0 src="https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" smilieid="3"></P>

I'm not sure you did it, unless you wanted to write in HTML code :D

Must have been a server problem.

    I'm not that good!:):

Anyway, I had said Buxton makes a coin purse that looks just like the one posted. It has the insert, too.

Well I want to Thank everyone for their suggestions. I've had sometime to try different things and actually I've carried a Taurus Judge IWB holster that INGO member Localone made with no problems. It's heavier and bulkier than the Glock.

I've come to a conclusion on why the Glock bothered me so much that day.

    1. I was extremely tired both physically and mentally

    2. It was a new gun and I think I was more conscious of it's size and concealability

    3. My daughter and I were trading off and on with the cart and I didn't want to leave my purse with her, so I kept it across my shoulder. Which brings us back to #1.

    4. I was afraid I had made a mistake in getting the bigger gun, if carrying it was going to bother me as much as it seemed that day.

Since then I have had the opportunity to experience many different types of situations where I had to choose how to carry and what to carry. Since I still haven't gotten a holster for the Glock when I wanted to CC on my person I choose to carry my Taurus Judge. Not an easy gun to conceal on your person, for a woman's size compared to some men, but Localone did a great job making a IWB holster for it. (I've got the same holster for the Glock on ordered from him.) When I have choosen not to CC on my person, mainly due to clothing issues, I've carried the Glock in my purse. There are a few situations where I won't considerer carrying at all, so I leave the gun locked in the car, not at home.

My conclussion is that I don't think there is a wrong way to carry. It's whatever is comfortable for you and what situation you are in. Even when I get an IWB and OWB holster for the Glock I will still utilize purse carrying on times when my clothing won't accomidate a gun or won't conceal it well enough for my taste. I am going to take the suggestion of getting a slim wallet too, so I don't always have to have my purse with me at all times.

Once again, Thanks for the lively conversation on this subject and for all the suggestions. INGO gals are great, the guys are OK too :):
