I have a Stack-on safe (ok, it is a cabinet, the $100ish one from the Big Box stores). I don't really care for the key lock since keys are cumbersome at oh-dark-thirty, and electronic locks are just a situation waiting to fail. Has anyone replaced the key lock with a mechanical push-button combination lock? Similar to this but they come in much lower prices.

I don't know how durable they are since I have only seen them in low-torque situations (that is, just moving a single latch, vs the Stack-on's three-point), and I don't know if the S-o even lends itself to such a project.

Notice the knob on that push-button lock>

That button is what actually throws the bolt. The combination lock merely allowing you to move the latches with the button/lever.

You should be good to go.
