I just saw a breaking news headline on FoxNews.com about Charter Communications buying Time Warner Cable.

Is this better than, worse than, or the same as ComCast buying TWC from a customer service perspective?

As a TWC hostage, I mean subscriber, you are correct, sir. CathyInBlue I would go with the same as Comcast buying them - consolidate, give people even less choice and then pay for the expensive aquisition by squeezing them even harder.

They're also talking about buying Brighthouse at the same time. This one may succeed, where the other failed, though. Apparently, it's less of a monolithic monopoly that the Comcast deal would have been.

PLEASE don't change my Brighthouse. They have actual people that answer their phones, and even fix stuff when it breaks.

I've already decided I'm never paying more for my present crop of TV channels than I am now. The last time TWC tried raising my rates, I renegotiated over my STB, remote, and HDMI cable sitting on their counter. They lowered my bill instead of raising it. Apparently, I have to do that every year now. The year they insist on raising my rate, even a penny, I'll not be leaving their office with the STB, remote, or HDMI cable.

Joink's been running fiber like madmen all over Terre Haute. I'm intrigued about the possibility of gigabit fiber to the curb in the next year or so.
