Alderman Suggests Requiring GPS Devices On All Guns « CBS Chicago

Do I need to even say all the things I find wrong with this?

    quote
As for the privacy of gun owners who could be tracked with the GPS chips in their guns, Cochran said, “safety is … a much more important issue than is privacy.”
    endquote.

How about getting rid of the 4th amendment then alderman? saftey is more important than privacy.

If safety is such a big issue alderman then why don't you just gps track all of the criminals? Makes more sense than your idiotic idea.

Hey! Maybe the Chicago alderman could send this idea to his Chicago buddies in the White House for the next time they do "fast and furious." Oh, wait, that would defeat the real purpose, wouldn't it?

Lets see, create a program that is a bottomless pit to push taxpayer's money into, that can be defeated with aluminum foil AND is a blatent 4th amendment violation? Another gem from someone who no doubt swept the "dead people" vote.

Now there is a cost effective idea! GPS won't make any difference. Criminals will always find a way to have illegal unregistered firearms. If the government can't track registered sex offenders without tripping over themselves, how are they going to track millions of guns?

It would be much more effective in fighting crime if we put a tail on all the Chicago Aldermen. Think of the graft and corruption we could stop.

Politics. The only job in the world that pays you for getting more stupid with each passing day.

Better to install GPS chips in all these idiot politicians, so we know when they've escaped from the asylum.

.gov cannot track the guns that they smuggle to drug cartels in Mexico.

.gov cannot track, what maybe 12 million, illegal aliens in the USA.

.gov cannot track the Rose Law Firm Billing records or Obama's academic transcripts.

Chicago cannot track truck contracts, police overtime, Tiny Dancer's missing finger, stimulus money, the tons of guns stolen from the Chicago Police or the guns sold to Chicago street gangs by ATFE or guns from Indiana that they sold to Chicago street gangs.

But . . . the government of Chicago, an ongoing criminal enterprise, will somehow track legal guns.

CHICAGO...the name used to really mean something back in the day (as in the music group Chicago Transit Authority or simply, Chicago). Now it's just a name to equate with stupidity, corruption, murder and a style of politics that are the dregs of society, but only have money.

Okay. Crime occurs. 911 calls made. They look up guns on gps during that timeframe.

    Scenario one:
We found a gun that was there. Who was holding it? No cams or perp was well covered by oversized hoodie and nothing but shadow on the face. Look up owner in DB. Visit owner. Oh you just went to the 7/11? Cam there shows a guy wearing different hoodie. Maybe busted for carrying depending on how IL cc law goes. Dead end. Back to forensics etc.

    Scenario two:
We found a gun that was there. It's still there or not moving far from scene. Find abandoned weapon. Wiped down and no prints/hair/pocket lint. Look up owner in DB. Visit owner. Oh you were robbed this week? Dead end. Forensics on the scene.

    Scenario three:
Multiple guns in this area. Can't isolate which was used. Error margin of gps puts 5 guns within the error radius. Look up owners. Visit owners, they have alibis that are verified or no one will talk to police. Dead end. Forensics.

    Scenario four:
No 911 calls made. Body found. No specific timeframe. Map of guns on the wide timeframe in that area looks like a blob. Dead end. Forensics.

    Garbage. Just garbage.

Those Chicago politicians are just looking for creative ways to spend all the money. Illinois has been having problems with budget surpluses.

What's nuttier is that they're even talking about more gun control in Chicago. They already banned handguns, therefore, no crime, right?
