Same as it always is, manufactured political dependency. Substitution if that makes sense. You substitute your ability to defend yourself for an iron soup bowl.

The Machine needed to control political opponents who may resist the ward taxes and the population as a whole who would become more and more dependent upon the government for their own safety.
I just don't understand how willingly so many people give up their liberty.

That's Northbrook, not Chicago. Chicago thinks it is a lot bigger than it is.

I heard a Chicago real estate broker refer to Lafayette as "Greater Chicago".

Do you know Illinois state laws as to knives?

Like I said, I AVOID that state at all costs (as well as CA, DC, NY). I know nothing of their laws other than no carry and locking gun and ammo up in vehicle when passing through. :dunno:

Typically, my response to show my disgust with Cali is that I'll be glad when it finally falls in the ocean.:): But, there's not gonna be any such luck with Illinois.:D

You could always hope it gets small asteroid falls on it and creates a crater and then Lake Michigan fills up the crater with water. ;)

GSD? I don't think I'm familiar with the acronym??

    2) In a secure container (ie. something that fully encases the gun (fanny pack, gun case, etc.)

To the best of my knowledge you can't carry a gun anywhere in that backwards state.

    See post above.

It's done ssssssllllloooowwwwwlllllyyyy over a period of time. We are now into 3rd or 4th generation of people that depend on "uncle sam" for help so it's now "normal".

    Back to topic.
One of these can come in handy and keep you just as safe of all the laws.

Pray you aren't attacked by a really fat guy!;)

Or that you don't ACTUALLY need to cut anything open while you're there...that's freaking ridiculous.

Here's my Illinois defense. I always keep it between me and everyone in Illinois, and I keep moving pretty fast; it's a blunt-force trauma thing.
