What do you mean gets attention finally? It has been getting a lot of attention. I is routinely pointed out its more dangerous to live in Chicago than to be in combat in Afghanistan. Its a constant mantra that Chicago has the most strict gun laws but the worst murder rate by guns. And to all this the Left simply replies, gun control does not work in Chicago because people are getting guns from other states. Thus we need to ban all guns for gun control to work.

Facts, figures and common sense are not what will stay the ludicrous liberals from disarming America. Only the efforts of committed law abiding citizens staying on the backs of elected officials will stop gun control.

Chicago has a law for the city council members to have a gun on their person, give them a badge, radio, and car to patrol the city for law breakers.

Chicago is the perfect example of what happens when you get an elitist government with a socialist agenda. The socialist climate is very attractive to those that have no work ethic. There is always a government program to support them in some way shape or form. Then, that elitist government decides to disarm the rabble to make the city safe for the elite and you get even more lowlifes flocking to the city. With the good people now disarmed, it's a socialist paradise for the scum. That little Jennings .22lr they bought off the local drug dealer gives them a lot more power in Chicago than it would elsewhere where it might be countered with a Glock 20.

I will never understand how a whole city full of relatively normal people could continue to vote themselves a government that thinks so little of them. The Chicago government thinks the average person is a moron that needs government help to survive and cannot be trusted with a weapon. The whole liberal mindset seems to look at the world as if it's filled with degenerate scum that needs fed while being disarmed. And, they have the gall to say folks that carry a gun live in fear. Morons.

There are similarities between the city of Chicago and the problems in Mexico. Corruption, strict gun control, subjugation and oppression of the poor, to name a few.

    Really? They using census numbers?

Wikipedia gives 1930 Chicago population as 3.3 million, and 2011 (est.) as 2.7 million. FWIW. And yes, Wiki figures purport to be from the US Census.

Somehow I trust WLS more than, say, MSNBC or CNN with the 40% gun show sale figure. Or Rahm Emanuel or Gary McCarthy on solving gun violence.

David Axelrod Attributes Chicago Murder Rate to Lax Gun-Control Laws in ‘Surrounding Areas’
“We live in Chicago, and one of the reasons we have such a huge problem in this city is that all around us are areas with weak laws and with very lax background checks and a lot of illegal guns flow into this city,” Axelrod told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough. “Every law enforcement official will tell you that.”

Well of course! In this day and age when we screw up it's ALWAYS someone else's fault.

That's the common thread the elite like to use when their ideas are exposed as crap. To them, Mexico is a hell hole because we folks to the north own guns. In England, they have one of the worse rates of violent crime in Europe and their answer is to push the UN gun ban to stop the flow of illegal weapons.

If you really want to stop the flow of illegal weapons, all you have to do is increase the flow of legal ones. The more of the good people in a country you can arm, the harder it is for the scum to exist.

Well the last thing we would want would be another wild west. Apparently we can tolerate Capone era murder levels, that's OK! But if we had another wild west, that would just be unthinkable. What in the h_$$ does "wild west" mean anyway?

Every so often a politician or celebrity will decry any notion of arming law abiding citizens with some lame retort about returning to the days of the wild west. I think Piers Morgan may have actually used this one during his interview of US Marine Joshua Boston.

Did they keep detailed statistics on murder rates in the mid 1800s. I wonder how wild the wild west would really be compared to modern day Chicago. Can we actually dig up the murder rate per capita for Dodge City in 1870? Something tells me Chicago is already another wild west, probably far, far worse than the popular folklore would lead us to believe. Next time I hear someone tell me they don't want another wild west, my response will likely be, "it's already here"!

Here's some reading that strongly suggests the wild west was far more gentile than our modern day cities:

By the way I hear it murder rates were actually very low in the wild west. OK Corral was one of the deadliest days for, and that was what 4 or 5 people killed in that shootout?

See? When fully-automatic weapons were widely available, the crime rates were lower.

We need to make all fully-automatic weapons accessible to everyone, not just pre-1986 models. When citizens have all tools of self-defense at their lawful disposal, criminals run like scared little roaches. We need to repeal NFA '34, GCA '68, and Hughes Amendment of FOPA '86. Do we want the Al Capones of this world to have the upper hand, or should we, as law-abiding citizens, have the drop on the thugs and criminals who would do us harm? Repeal the NFA or BUST.

Just saying, I'd vote for you for an office. I wish the NRA had taken that kind of stance instead of deflecting the attention to video games. Facts support a return of firearms and an attempt at bringing society back. It's unfortunate that the cost of living today is such that it takes both parents working full time to make ends meet for some. I'd rather have the support of my family and neighbors then rely on 911
